To aid in the ease of build the Doon Buggy uses an unmodified standard 1970’s classic VW beetle petrol tank. There is no need for cutting and re-brazing the filler neck position or bashing in the corners to fit beneath the bonnet as required on other older alternative kits.
By keeping the original filler neck position and a relatively flatter fixing position that other kits, the tank can hold a decent amount of fuel which helps not only reduce visits to the petrol station but helps provide additional weight to the front which in turn helps improve braking and handling.
